Finding the Guru

"Please accept my humble obeisances. All Glories to Srila Prabhupada. I am an aspiring ISKCON devotee. I have been reading _Back To Prabhupada_ magazine for some time. I would love to find a guru I can follow, but it seems that most are all cheaters. I have made Srila Prabhupada my guru, by placing his picture on my altar, and reading his books. Editor replies:

1) The main direction we can offer is to repeat Srila Prabhupada's instructions which establish his position as ISKCON's Acarya and diksa guru – which in turn mean that you have already found the guru you can follow: his name is Srila Prabhupada.

2) You are also correct that the "gurus" you are finding are "cheaters", since none of them have been authorised by Srila Prabhupada to take his position as the diksa guru of ISKCON.

3) What you are doing is correct in accepting Srila Prabhupada as your guru, by placing his picture on your altar and reading his books. Follow all his instructions, such as chanting 16 rounds a day, following the four regulative principles, and doing practical service, and you will be fixed as his disciple.

4) Consequently, you may immediately stop thinking you need to "find" yourself a guru that you "can follow", as you are already doing that!
